Trophy hunting in Namibia takes place on commercial game farms and cattle farms. Namibia as a beef producing country has cattle fences for the sole purpose of grazing management, which does not limit the free movement and natural migration of animals.

Game ranches are large game proof fenced areas with no internal perimeters, where naturally occurring game species are present or were reintroduced. Game and cattle farms may be part of a conservancy, registered as such with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism. Hunting quotas in communal areas consist of free ranging game, for example Springbuck, Gemsbok, Hartmann’s Zebra, Ostrich, Eland, Kudu etc., amongst other species.
